Storage Media and Systems

Storage Media refers to the physical media used for storage.  Media is susceptible and produces many forms and causes of information loss.  Storage Systems refers to drives, arrays, interconnects, host bus adapters, interfaces, software, firmware, or other 'systems' components instead of just the media. Media is useless without hardware and software systems to access, read, and interpret the media, consequently, storage preservation is a system problem and media is a component.
